Privacy Policy

Overview

Aura Soundscapes ("Aura," "the App") is an independent app built by a solo developer. Your privacy is the foundation of this App. Aura does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not track you. There are no servers operated by the developer — everything runs on your device.

Information the App Does Not Collect

Aura does not access, collect, or transmit the following:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Your precise GPS location
• Your contacts, calendar, or reminders
• Your photos, videos, or music library
• Your device microphone (no audio is ever recorded)
• Your health or fitness data
• Your browsing history or app usage history
• Your device identifier or advertising identifier

Information the App Does Use

Approximate Location

Aura performs a one-time IP-based location lookup each session to estimate the city or region you are in. This provides an approximate location only — it is not GPS and cannot identify your precise whereabouts. It is used solely to:

• Display local weather conditions
• Adapt the soundscape theme to your timezone

The lookup request is sent directly from your device to ipapi.co (primary) or ipinfo.io (fallback). No user identifier, device fingerprint, or authentication token accompanies the request. The result is cached locally on your device for 15 minutes.

Weather Data

Aura fetches weather conditions from Open-Meteo, a free and anonymous weather API. The request includes only approximate coordinates and a timezone — no API key, user identifier, or device information. Weather data is cached locally for 20 minutes.

Soundscape Preferences

Your selected soundscape, volume levels, and timer settings are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. This information never leaves your device.

Payments (Tips)

Aura offers optional tips via Apple's In-App Purchase system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. The developer does not receive, store, or have access to your credit card details, billing address, or purchase history beyond the transaction verification data provided by the App Store.

Third-Party Services

No personal information is sent to any third party. The developer does not share, sell, trade, or rent any user information to anyone — because the developer does not have any to share.

Data Retention and Deletion

All data used by Aura (approximate location, weather, and preferences) is stored exclusively on your device. You can delete all of it at any time by:

• Deleting the App from your device

Cached location and weather data expires automatically (15 and 20 minutes respectively) and is overwritten on subsequent lookups.

No Analytics, No Tracking, No Ads

Aura has no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting frameworks, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers. The developer has no visibility into how you use the App — which features you tap, how long you listen, or whether you opened it at all.

Children's Privacy

Aura does not collect, store, or request any personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13. The App is suitable for all ages.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California). Because Aura stores all data locally on your device — and none on developer-operated servers — exercising these rights is fully within your control:

• Access: All locally stored data is visible through iOS Settings
• Deletion: Delete the App to remove all associated data
• Opt-out of data sharing: Not applicable — no data is shared

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the App's update description on the App Store.
